Here is the shape for the open A major chord. This shape is very common but it is also very useful. Making this chord can be difficult for some people at first because you have to squish your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fingers up on the 2nd fret of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th strings. Alternatively, you can bar those three notes with your index finger. Choose which ever way works best for you.
