Nate Savage’s Guitar Collection

Take An Inside Look At All The Guitars That Nate Savages Uses!

I’ve probably owned about 35 guitars throughout my lifetime so far. In this clip I just wanted to share with you guys and let you know exactly which guitars I have been using in these videos.

The acoustic that I use is an Alvarez Yairi GY-1. This guitar is a 1990 model and it’s hand made in Japan. The back and sides are made of rosewood, the top is made of spruce and the fretboard is made of ebony.

This guitar is really sentimental to me because my mom gave it to my dad for their 22nd wedding anniversary and then my dad gave it to me years later when I graduated from college. I have played a lot of other really nice acoustic guitars that I really like over the years but the Yairi sounds and plays so great that I just can’t bring myself to buy another.

The electric guitar that I played for about half of the videos is a PRS SE Custom made in Korea. The body is made of mahogany with a maple top and the neck is made of mahogany with a rosewood fretboard. It has two humbuckers, a three-way pickup selector switch and a stoptail bridge. This guitar is pretty cool because it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg but it plays nicely and sounds pretty incredible. There are a lot of other guitars out their in the same price range but is seems to me that the PRS SE series is a bit nicer and bit better quality that most of it’s competition.

I’ve been playing over 40 years for a living, about 3 years ago I stopped playing on the road because I have a son that’s 14 which I’m teaching him drums. Those 3 years were hard on me because of some health problems that I solved and recovered from. Now I miss playing so I put a small trio, guitar, bass, and drums and we’re starting to get gigs in and around my home town. At first it was once ever month or so but now I have jobs coming up almost every weekend which makes me happy. I will say playing music is a high of the highest caliber. Love your music, practice and enjoy guys!
Freddie Singh I also teach guitar, bass, drums, and keys

Hi i have a question. does an ecitlrec acoustic guitar work if the battery is empty? like the playing will it work? I know the tuner won’t work anymore but the guitar itself with chords and stuff will that still work or become really weak? or is the battery strictly for amping your guitar up to something? thank you.

  • Felicitas P. Calicdan says:

Nate is Your Guitar much Like the Martin DCX1E or not

Hello nate I purchased your blues guitar blue print some time ago and not long ago opened it to learn the lessons. The lessons and how you explain them is great but the four bonus disk will not play cd3 6/8 quick change, cd4 chicago blues, cd1 jazzy blues, cd2 minor blues.. I would like to exchange them for a working set to learn more. Your stuff is best and now that iam back playing and learning guitar I might as well learn from the best…Keep up the good work and I love the screen display cause I can follow everything your doing so never change that concept… Hope to hear a reply soon so I can get the rest of the tricks….

  • mick says:

are your guitar lessons still available on cd and if so how can I get them Im in australia

    • Nate Savage says:

Hey Mick, The Guitar System is an online only course. It is so big that it would cost way more if it were a physical product. Having the course available only through the online members area makes it a lot easier for the business model too. :)

  • Alexander Yu says:

    Dear Nate,

I recently started playing the guitar and find your lessons very helpful when practicing. I’m now thinking about buying an acoustic guitar. Are you familiar with Sigma Guitars and what do you think of the Sigma 000MC-1STE in particular? Would you have any recommendation for an acoustic guitar in the $400-$500 price range? Thank you :)

    • Nate Savage says:

Hey Alexander, Thanks. The only recommendation that I really have is to make sure that whatever acoustic you get has a solid wood top instead of a laminate top. If you are paying $400+ I think you should be getting a solid wood top. They just sound bigger and sweeter in my opinion. Other than that, just make sure that YOU like the way it feels. :)

  • Dhruv says:

Hey Nate, my dad gifted me an acoustic guitar a few months ago. Your lessons are helping me very much. Thanks! But recently one of my strings broke and my dad got little angry. So I just wanted to ask that is breaking of my strings normal? And yes like your lessons very very much. Thanks again!!

    • Nate Savage says:

Hey Dhruv, You should expect to break strings occasinally, but if you are doing it all the time you should get your guitar checked out. I think I’ve broken about 6 strings in my entire life.
