Parts Of The Guitar
Learn About The Parts Of The Guitar!
It is important for you as a beginner guitar player to learn the proper names for the parts of the guitar. When you talk to other musicians or people that work at music stores it is important for you to be able to communicate with them about the guitar in a proper manner.
Headstock – If you are right handed and holding your guitar, the headstock is the part of the guitar to the far left that holds the tuning pegs.
Tuning Pegs – The tuning pegs are the devices that the strings are wrapped around. They not only hold the strings, but they are also used to tune the strings. Usually you will have 3 tuning pegs on each side of the headstock. Some guitars have all six tuning pegs on one side of the headstock.
Nut – The nut of the guitar is the part of the guitar that guides and holds the strings in place right before they get to the headstock. Usually the nut is made of plastic, bone, graphite or metal.
Neck – The neck of the guitar is the entire part of the guitar from the headstock up to the body of the guitar. The neck is where your fretboard is located.
Fretboard – The fretboard is the part of your guitar that holds the frets in place. Most of the time, the fretboard is another piece of wood glued on to the neck. The fretboard is usually made of rosewood, maple, or ebony.
Frets – The frets of the guitar are the metal strips that run vertically on your fretboard. Frets are usually made of nickel or stainless steel.
Body – If you are holding your guitar, the main part to the right is called the body of the guitar. Guitar bodies come in all different shapes and sizes.
Bridge – The bridge of the guitar is the part that holds the strings on to the body of the guitar. On an acoustic guitar the bridge is usually made of rosewood or ebony.
Now that you know the parts of the guitar you can move on to the next beginner guitar lesson.

Hi Mr.Nate! This website is the best on the Net! It was very helpful to know the parts of the guitar in English although I live in a francophone country. But it’s kinda difficult to communicate with the guitar storekeeper because French is the common language here. Therefore, please send me the names of the parts of the guitar in French if you’re able to, or just recommend me a website where I can find them in French.
Thank you, Sir!

I’m going to put this on my must practice list’ at least a couple minutes a day. I’m determined to get into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame before my 75th birthday only 20 years to go.I’ll be sure to give you a big (deserved) thanks on stage when I give my speech.Much appreciated from Canada

I am a 15 year old boy who wants to get a plain belly in approximately two weeks. I have a ltitle fat in my belly, and I am not fat(obese). I try to eat as healthy as possible, and I try to eat no more than 1500 calories a day.I have been exercising for almost a month, four or five times a week for at least 30 minutes a day. I do crunches, jumping jacks, something called Pilate’s for abbs, and I stretch a lot.I am about 5 feet and 8 inches and I’m not sure how much I weight, but I am skinny .So, I want to know what should I do to get a flat belly as fast as possible(in two weeks if possible). I am willing to exercise two hours or more a day if I have to, but I know that exercising is not enough. I also want to know what foods I shouldn’t eat. Please be clear on your answer and give me as much information as you can. Thanks for your time.
WOW its great and its very easy to learn
Thank you for the blog post. Jones and I happen to be sainvg for our new publication on this subject matter and your article has made us all to save all of our money. Your ideas really responded all our inquiries. In fact, greater than what we had thought of in advance of the time we stumbled on your great blog. I no longer have doubts including a troubled mind because you have truly attended to our needs in this post. Thanks
ThANk U…….
First start by getting up earielr than usual. Around 5:30 am to do some of your workouts. Getting up early shocks your metabolism because the body needs more energy to get going. Right? This will start your system on the road to weight loss. That early start with about 10 minutes of stretching. Have a cup of coffee to get the blood going also. Do all the sit-ups you can. Just do them. 15 or 20 whatever, we don’t have a lot of time to work with. Rest 1 minute repeat, do this for 6 sets. Already you are breathing hard and feel worn, because the body is working extra hard at being up earielr and then going right into exercise. If the early morning hours, lets get your cardio in, go ahead and do it. 30 minutes. Diet. Cut all current meal portions in half, just cut them in half, nothing fancy or complicated CUT IN HALF! Cut out all bread products, all gravies, candies, chips, night snacks, etc. If you crave at night eat a banana, other fruit or best a non-fat yogurt. There are some tasty ones out there. In the evening do another 6 sets of sit-ups maxing out each set. Cardio again. The trick is to stay with getting up earielr. Yes its hard, that’s why it is so effective. Why do you think the Army gets up so early, it is intense training to the max. Do this for 6-9 weeks you will have results!
This is simply great…..
it’s very usefull
Thank you Mr.Nate for this website, i have been looking everywhere for a site like this, thank you again for making this site, i am only 16 now, but if i had the money i would surely buy your CD’S, and thank to you i can finally learn how to play the guitar so that i can sing for my girlfriend
Thanks a lot Mr. Nate, it really helpful. God Bless ya.
Now that im educated i can know go to the guitar store and buy a strap button, because for some reason my guitar only came with one, but with no string thingy so now i can buy one.
i want to know about which type of guitar is suitable in begining………
well for me i like a thin neck, that way i dont have to stretch my hand out all the way and i like the body to be thin but it depends on what kind of sound you want, if the body is thick than you get more bass and i like the bass sound better for playing things like country but i have long arms so it is easier to play a guitar with a thick body for me, but if you have short arms you might want a thin body
HOPE I HELPED
the guitar youre looking for is called a “spanish guitar”
i have a big electric/acoustic guitar, and id like to know if its alright for a beginning?

Hey, I am ten years old and ever since I turned seven I have had a guitar and never learned how to play it. Today, I got inspired and looked everywhere for a free lesson/guide. I have gotten frustrated with everything I have watched until I saw these. I am very pleased I am actually playing the guitar now. Thank you!
