Names Of The Guitar Strings
Learn About The Names Of The Strings On The Guitar!
As a beginner guitar player it is important for you to know the names of the guitar strings. Once you learn the names of the strings you will use that knowledge all of the time when tuning the guitar and learning new songs.
If we use the thickest string of the guitar as a starting point, the names of the strings on the guitar would be E, A, D, G, B, and E. The thickest string, or low E string, is also referred to as the 6th string. The A string is the 5th string and so on. You will probably notice that the first and last strings are both E strings. The high E string, also called the 1st string, is just two octaves above the low E string. Dale’s words are wise. I have noticed a lot of peolpe with blog angst lately. I myself have only been blogging for a year, and I have been worrying that I am getting boring. I’m hoping it’s just a phase. I can’t believe that twitter and facebook could have the same creative possibility as a blog, where one chooses exactly one’s own format and content. We really write for ourselves, I think. I make art (etchings, etc.) as well as my attempts at writing. I learned long ago that I would not always make a good piece of art. But when I selected some of my best to put on my blog I was pleased that I had kept going.

I have a 25 year old Yamaha FG-200D(Domestic model, made in Japan) acoustic guiatr. When I bought it, it was around 200 250 USD. I always liked the way it sounded. It was always loud, bass rich, but a little dull in high tones. Recently I purchased a set of Elixir Nanoweb Light strings. Afterwards, it sounded so great that I won’t change it for a thousand dollar worth Martin. I realized that the difference was not in high strings, it was the coated low ones which now sounds crystal clear and still rich. I strongly recommend to any acoustic player.

I completely agree with this. I play both couastic and electric guitar regularly. I prefer heavy gauge picks for electric playing because they make it easier to play fast licks and palm muting stuff (both more prevalent in electric guitar playing than couastic. For couastic guitar, I do a lot of finger picking. When I use a pick, I use a medium gauge pick because it produces a smoother and slightly warmer sound. The verdict is still out about strings. I have been using D’Addario XL10′s on my electric guitar for a while now and I love them. They last a very long time and make a great sound, perfect for my strat. For my couastic guitar, I use Elixir light strings. The issue of cables is something that I solved a long time ago and have not worried about since. I use Monster Cables for everything. These are the highest quality cables on the market and they last forever. They also have the best warranty of any product I have used.

Nice lesson. But,…..tell us,…..eat (E-6) and early ( E-1) ???? Why the same leter and how do we differentiate the two. 6E and 1E ? I guess we’ll find out. So far so good. I’ve had a guitar in a closet for 20 years and now later in life I am ready to pick it up and try again. Here’s hoping !! Books on playing before the internet had me confused so now here I go. Have to get a new bridge first this weekend.

I’m a legitimate beginner. I actually just thought, today was finally the day I’m going to try to learn the guitar. It would’ve been so hard without a personal mentor. thanks for making these videos I’ve been struggling for months on the string names my grandad though said the only way I’d learn is reading the string packets but I like this way much better it’s a much easier way to learn for a ranch kid that gets bored easily by reading lesson books all day
