The Flexi-50 is really a step forward in the evolution of the modern guitar amp. You can customize your tone by using virtually any pre or power tubes that you can think of. There are a ton of tone options not only form the tube choices but also from the other features on the amp. The selectable 50/20 watt option changes the entire feel of the amp. This amp may be a little complex for some but if you like versatility and being able to really create your own unique sound you should check this amp out sometime.

Seems a bit expensive at first but you really get a ton of unique features and an incredible sounding amp.

There are A LOT of ways that you could run this amp. I chose EL34 power tubes, 12AX7 preamp tube and I was running it through the THD 2×12 cab. The sound was absolutely amazing. Lots of tight low end and a really dyamic feel that made me want to play it more and more. The drive on the amp does not get super aggressive but I made up for that with some pedals.

There are so many options on this amp that it can be a little intimidating at first. Really nailing down which sound you like can be pretty tough, especially with all of the tube options. One of the cool things about changing the tubes is that the top casing comes off very easily via four thumb screws for easy access. The owner’s manual says the experimentation is the key. I agree.
One thing that is kind of a pain is that you have to bias the amp yourself if you are want to change the power tubes out for other models. I guess that’s a small price to pay for all of the versatility that you get.

• Tube choice versatility makse this amp customizable to just about any taste
• Very dynamic
• Works well with pedals

| Cons |
• So many options can make it hard to decide on a sound

• If you want to change the power tubes out for another model you have to bias the amp
| Overall Rating - 9/10 |
The THD Flexi-50 earns a pretty high score of 9. The only reason I did not give it 10 is because it might be a bit too much amp for some people. If you really want to customize your sound this amp is for you. If you want a simple plug and play amp you might find this one a bit overwhelming. Super fun, super amp!
