Hey there, Hadaway, welcome to the forum... nice to work somewhere where you can play your guitar! Cheers.

Thanks Ripper, I am fortunate enough to have my own business that allows me time to put aside to pursue my own interests.

    1. Where are you from (country, city)? 1) U.S. Al. Phenix City
    2. How long have you been playing guitar? 2) Less than 1 mo. [learning ]
    3. Did you take lessons, or are you self-taught? 3) Hard to say I'm using Rocksmith, then lessons
    4. Who are some of your biggest musical influences? 4) Pink Floyd*, Rush, Beastie boys, Tricky, Tom Petty
    5. Do you play any other instruments (which ones)? 5) nope never had any luck with music just love it.
    6. What is your dream guitar rig? 6) Not sure love both the Gibson SG and the fender Strat.

oh and im 45 and this will be my 7th attempt to learn guitar. i chose Rocksmith because of the game like aspect of it. i am aware it doesn't teach someone how to "really" play but um its got to be better than having an instructor make you feel stupid.
    * both gilmour and waters but gilmour the more favored

Greetings dankenstein and welcome to the forum. 7th time, eh? Oh well at least you haven't given up... I am fairly new at guitar myself and when I saw the ads for Rocksmith I went out a got an electric a lot sooner than I had planned. I think it is one of the best ways to learn how to play new songs and practice techniques. Along with Nate's Beginner Guitar System, I am having a blast learning and playing. I'm also a Rush fan and def agree with Gilmour over Waters.

Just stumbled on this site, hopefully it's as good as it looks haha

    1. Well I dont know where I live right now, been moving between Utah, Idaho, Arizona, and Colorado. Want to move East Coast eventually.

    2. 4 or 5 years now

    3. took 6 months of lessons to get started, after that completely self taught

    4. My influences are more post hardcore bands like A Day to Remember, Sleeping With Sirens, From First To Last

    5. Guitar is my main instrument, but I've been playing piano for about as long, bass guitar for a few years, messed around with drums, and mess around with vocals.

    6. I've always loved the Fender Strat, as for amps, I dont know enough about them yet to really have an opinion. (been stuck with the same crappy $100 amp for the past 5 years...)

btw dankenstein, I've messed with Rocksmith a little bit and found it can be a really good learning tool, just be sure to stick with it, and learn from outside the game as well and you will turn out a pretty good guitarist!

I just want to get to know everyone here a little more. So, here are some questions to help everyone introduce themselves.

    1. Where are you from (country, city)?
    2. How long have you been playing guitar?
    3. Did you take lessons, or are you self-taught?
    4. Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
    5. Do you play any other instruments (which ones)?
    6. What is your dream guitar rig?

Feel free to post some pics of yourself playing if you like.

    1. I live in Traer, Iowa

    2. I bought a Yamaha accoustic 5 months ago and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard 3 months ago... every day since.

    3. I have been teaching myself by finding everything I can on the internet, this site is great
I've learned more from Nate then from any other source.

    4. Wow so many... Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, Randy Rhoads, SRV, Jeff Beck.

    5. Not yet

    6. Fender American Strat with a nice tube amp.

    Hi, my name is Loretta

I am new to playing guitar and to this forum. I bought the Beginner Guitar series a few months ago and I have really learned alot. I played my first real song with chord progressions and am feeling really good about my progress. I have always wanted to play, but could never get to the point I could reach some of the chords. I then found a music store that had a small student size guitar (I have really small hands and short fingers) I bought it and found Nate Savage's guitar coarse and I am having a great time. Hope to keep learning.
