When doing up and down strokes... my up strokes are very choppy. Any tips on how to get them to sound similar to your down strokes? Any help greatly appreciated.

Although a beginner myself, I think the it's important to stay relaxed and position your hand (and pick) slightly downward as you hit the high e and pull it through the rest of the strings. Practice, practice, practice. Cheers.

Try to hold the pick more at an angle enstead of just flat. It will also help cut down on excessive pick noise during your playing/practicing. Upstrokes take abit of time to get comfee with. Another approach is to use thin picks. At 1st I always like medium picks or .75s now all I care to use are .50s or thinner.
