Does anyone know what amps, cabs and effects Metallica used on their first 3 or so albums. I looked on the net but did not get a clear answer. I am more interested in the amps than anything else. Best metal tone in my opinion.

Marshall... Love the sound!!! I can't get any of the 3 amps I have, Fender, Line 6 or Peavy to simulate that sound.

yes Marshall however after the first 2 albums,they(hetfield,Hammet) changed to Mesa Boogie mkII (prior to recording Master of puppets)

I love both tones but I prefer the MKII.

Of course the equipment used is key to the player's sound but also the producer involved shouldn't be overlooked. When Metallica changed from Rasmussen to Bob Rock they did it in favor of a clearer distortion at the expense of that metal edge signature sound. Both are great IMO

ithought they used boogie's on there first few,ididnt know they used marshall's....icudof swore isaw a mesa in the backround of the vid of 'one'..

The saying "practice makes perfect" is only partially true."Perfect practice makes perfect".Practice often,but make sure you doing it right.It makes bad habits if your not doing something perfectly.

Nopee, Marshall.. I much prefer a Marshall head over Boogie. Only Boogie I ever liked playing through was their Triple Rectifier. An interesting tone I have never ever heard reproduced other then means of a Mesa's Triple Rectifier amp. I do luv Mesa's cabs though!!! Any JCM or JVM head and a Boogie 412 is a great combo.

You would be better off getting a pedal board of some sort. You would get more out of it. I really like Vox's tones but hate the look of their amps. That little Digitech rp80 I have is a fun little unit. Has allot of sweet tones in it, and a very good drum machine. best thing is its soo simple to use compared to my Line6 PodXT Live.

Yeah, has quite the few of them. All adjustable too by themselves or you can combine others effects and tones to make your own so you can save them to one of the many 40 open user presets. For such a small unit this gal packs allot of user friendly fun stuff. I know nothing of Digi products but this one is plenty fun for what she is. My only issue is I am soo used to my Pod XTLive that I am always trying to stomp where a peddle should be and its not there :lol:
