I am looking into purchasing a new guitar. I currently own a Kramer Striker 300. Three guitars have caught my eye and I am interested in opinions from the forum. I mainly intend to play rock and metal, though it would be ideal to have a guitar that is well rounded. Three guitars I have been looking at are the Ibanez ARX320, Schecter C-1 and the PRS SE-24. That is in the order of cheapest to most expensive. If all else is equal, I would be inclined to go with the Ibanez. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Out of those guitars I really like the PRS and the Schecter, I don't think you could go wrong with either. The Schecter has a coil tap knob which makes it super versatile. I like the overall feel of the PRS SE better but that is purely persona preference. That might be because I prefer flat top guitars and not carved top guitars. I think either of those guitars will be versatile and great choice.
I like Ibanez guitars but I just don't particularly like the feel of the ARX320, but that really doesn't mean much.
Let us know what you get and post a pic!

Thanks for the advice. They have the schecter at my local Guitar Center; however, they do not have either the PRS or the ARX320 in stock, so I cannot try those out, and I am sure they will not just order them so I can test play them. My plan is simply to try out several guitars they do have and get a feel. I had also read that it is important to test play electric guitars without an amp to get a "feel" for the natural sound quality. Is this true? Sounds logical.

Narrowed the options down to the PRS SE 24 double cut and the PRS SE singlecut. Any major difference between the two besides the body shape? I did notice that they use different pickups.

I pretty much won't even plug a guitar in if I don't like the way it feels unplugged.
As far as the SE's go the Custom has 24 frets and the Single has 22. Depending on the particular model you are looking at they could have a stoptail or tremolo.
I think the anniversary customs are pretty sweet.

It was a close call between the PRS SE 24 and the Schecter C-1 Standard, but i finally decided on the Schecter. I really liked the high gain tone and the ability to coil tap on the Schecter. I think the PRS had a brighter tone clean, but I was not as impressed with its high gain crunch.

You ever pick up a Jackson?? The DKMGT is a sweet axe! Arch top like the Schecter. Depending on the model or top I should say is varying pups from active EMG's to passive EMGhz's. The newer 2 knob have actives and the older 3 knob have passives with a 20db gain boost switch on one of the pots. I have just the plain Flame Top JS30DKT and I completely love it. Only thing is Jackson have thin necks so that may be a weighing factor for you.. If you can pick a Jackson up and try it

Guilford Guitars is a relatively new custom guitar company. I think that if I had the money I would pick one up. Love the P-Rails.
